We are pleased to announce the opening of our second site, located in downtown Galesburg at 47 S. Seminary Street. The phone number at the studio is 309-341-5555 and we are open by appointment. Located on historic Seminary Street and surrounded by shops and restaurants, this is an exciting new venture for us - and brings with it many new settings for both indoor and outdoor.
We are participating in the First Fridays program, featuring free live music, local artists, and festival food. Stop by the studio August 5, September 2, and October 7 for the chance to win a free session with an 8x10.

The big game is today and this little lover is prepared to make all of you Saints fans, too!
Today our Valentine's Day Special brought many of you to the studio- and we enjoyed having you there. Thank you for bringing your babies, your puppies, your children, your grandchildren, and your nieces and nephews. The photos turned out great and we will have them ready for you to pick up on Friday the 12th, from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Most students love to have their senior pictures taken- to exchange, to share, and to display! In our community we are blessed to have students from distant lands live among us, as part of our local families and as members of our area high schools. If you are a host family, or if you know of a high school student living here as part of a study abroad program, please share with them that ShyVel’s offers a ‘senior’ package designed just for them. Prints are optional, but their families back home, wherever they may be, can view the pictures online and see the young men and women living in America. We waive the sitting fee and do the photos at no charge to the visiting international student.
There have been a couple of questions about our studio hours, so I just wanted to post a quick clarification here. We are open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. We are also open, by appointment, during other times that may be more convenient for you- to look at proofs and to have pictures taken. Please just call our studio, and if necessary leave a voice message. We will return your call and work with you to find a suitable time for all your photography needs.
In spite of a short respite from winter, there is still more snow than grass on our lawns. The sun has been a stranger, and many of us will be anxiously awaiting Punxsutawney Phil’s verdict come February 2. But February is a short month, and soon the days will be longer, the afternoons warmer, and our thoughts will all turn to the promise of spring.
These are a few shots I took earlier this winter, on a cold and snowy morning. I hope you enjoy them.
